My Approach

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).  I also hold a certification as a Grief Recovery Specialist from the Grief Recovery Institute.  I conducted research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Translational Research on Aging and Mobility prior to pursuing my Master's of Education in Counseling from the University of Montevallo. I recently obtained the ability to train counselors for licensure as LPC's in Alabama and would be happy to look into taking supervisees for this.

From 2007 through 2017 I worked in the field of addiction recovery with Bradford Health Services serving as a primary counselor, an assessment specialist with the healthcare professionals program, and as the Clinical Program Coordinator of the Extended Care Program in Warrior, Alabama.

Through my own intensive therapeutic work and spiritual study, I made a decision to embark on opening a private counseling practice and, thus, Restore Counseling Services was birthed.

I am passionate about helping people find fulfillment in their lives through embracing total wellness.  In my history as a counselor, I have placed specific emphasis on the role of forgiveness bringing internal freedom to people and their relationships.  I use a mixture of theories and therapeutic styles including Cognitive-Behavioral, Reality Choice, Adlerian, Jungian, and Family Systems.  I do believe in practical application of techniques discussed in session and provide assignments for application of these techniques to see if there has been benefit to the client.

Safety and security within the environment and sessions are of paramount importance to me.  Confidentiality is honored and explained to clients.  A homelike, comfortable environment for individual, couples, and group sessions is provided so clients can feel a nurturing experience through multiple senses while going through the therapeutic process.  I do believe change is possible and there is hope in every situation.  Spirituality and Faith guide    and sustain this belief for me.
